This is how I did it.
- My mom helped me cut a tomato into 3 slices.
- My mom also cut 3 empty water bottles into halves, and kept the bottom parts.
- I put the tomato slices into the water bottle.
- I covered the tomatoes with oil, water and air.
- Then , I covered the bottles with plastic wrap.
This is what I observed.
- On day 2, the tomato in the air bottle starting to grow mold.
- On day 3, the water started to become unclear. Mold started to grow.
- On day 4, the tomato in the air bottle started to have more juice and more juice.
- On day 5, the tomato in the oil started to have mold.
On one Wednesday, when my science project is due, my mom dropped me off the front of my school Gym, one of my teachers came over and helped me to hold the big science display board. She sent me all the way to the Lunch Room to set up my display board. There are many other boards already being set up on the desks.
During the day, I was called out to explain to judges how I did my science project. On Thursday, during the morning announcement, the principle announced that I was in the first place for Grade 1 science fair. I was so surprised and excited.
On Friday, I brought my "First Place" ribbon home.
I love science fairs.
