On a hot summer day, the Cook's family was driving to the Pondville Lake. They have heard before that it was a five star lake. The Cook's family didn't know why, but they sure wanted to check it out.
They arrived at a hotel near the lake when it was getting dark. When they just closed their room door, they all heard something like a very strong blow of wind. Outside of the windows, little pieces of trash and debris were flying everywhere!
All of a sudden, there was a flash of lightning! Then bucketful of rain became pouring down. It was a thunder storm! The whole Cook's family agreed to just try to sleep through the storm.
The next morning, the bad weather was gone. The father opened the curtains and peeked out of the window to make sure there was no floods. He exclaimed,"OK! Everybody! The storm is gone and it's a beautiful day! We'll get to have fun today at the Pondville Lake."
After a simple breakfast, they all got into their van heading to the lake. Once they reached the lake, they saw all different kinds of cooked, dead fish on the ground.
"Wow! What happened here?" said the little girl. Of course, no one in the Cook's family knew what was going on.
Just then, a man holding a plate walked by and asked them," Hey, where are all your plates and forks?"
"What is going on here!?" the father pointed to the fish on the ground.
The man replied,"It's Cooked Fish Day! One day every year we get cooked fish. Did you hear the storm last night?"
Papa answered, "Yes!"
"Well, that's why the fish is here. The tornado picked up the fish and the thunder and lightning cooked it."
Mom laughed out, "So that's why there is fish on the ground!?"
So on that day, the Cook's family knew why the lake is a five star lake. They had a very fun week playing there.
