The fun part of skating is that you get to be pretty and show off in a way that most people don't know how. Although it is fun, ice skating is like every other sport. It requires a lot of practice to master every single movement. I fall down a lot in the rink. I have gotten bruises, scratches, and even sore and achy legs, but I have never given up and that's what matters.
The ice rink in general, is one of my favorite places to be. Whenever there is public skating, I try to stay and play as much as I can, while occasionally practicing some cool moves. My mom sometimes tries to come onto the rink too, but she struggles a lot. If you might want to do ice skating, even a little bit, you should start to take lessons at a younger age. It seems that it is much harder for adults to learn to skate, mainly because they are taller and more afraid of falling.
Owning my own pair of skates is also much easier because if we are running late, I can put on my own skates in our car on the way there as long as I have a nice pair of skate guards. There is only one thing that I can almost never do while putting on skates: tying the laces tight enough! Every single time, my mom has to redo the laces when we get there, or else I will not be comfortable enough to skate well.
I love figure skating very, very much. It has taught me a lot about balance and posture. One good bonus from learning how to skate is that you will automatically be great at roller skating too! It happened to me, so it could happen to you!
